What is Meta Tags?

Meta tags are snippets of text that describes content of a web page; the meta tags don’t appear on the page itself, but only in the page’s code ( in head section). meta tags helps search engines understand what a web page is about.

Some Common and Necessary Meta Tags 

If you have some knowledge of codes and HTML you will be able to type meta tags in the source of your page. If you have no experience, start with the following examples. These HTML examples are made to help you understand HTML.

<Meta name=”robots” content=”index, follow”/> (this identical to index and follow all things too)

<Meta name=”robots” content=”noindex, follow”/> (this identical to no index this page but follow its link)

<Meta name=”robots” content=”index, nofollow”/> (This is identical to index this page but not follow its link)

<Meta name=”robots” content=”non”/>  (this is identical to no index and no follow telling the search engine to ignore the web page.)


Note: Keep In Mind you only use one of one of the tags. They are not used in combination with each other.
