Search Engine History
Before 1993, the internet had been around for quite sometimes, search engines in the form that we see today did not come around until the appearance of a website called Wandex. Wandex was first to both, index and search the index of pages on websites. In that same year, Excite started using similar technology, which we call crawling or indexing a website. Bing.com is the latest of the major search engines to enter the internet realm.
